Avariel was travelling abroad when Arthas and his Scourge left her former home of Silvermoon City in ruins. After discovering the pitiful state her surviving kin were in, now calling themselves "Emberwing," she disowned her family to remain with the Alliance. Taking up a new name for herself, she continues her studies in frost magic to benefit her fellow high elves of the Silver Covenant.
